Last night, windows crashed. It happened fast and all I was able to read was that windows detected a serious error and needs to shut down.

This has happened once before a long time ago. Is there some way to find out what caused this problem? According to the Microsoft Error Report it was caused by a driver, but it didn't eay what driver.

If the crash happens only rarely, it may not be worth worrying about. If it happens occasionally, you should probably investigate. If it happens frequently, yes, take steps to rectify it.

What were you running at the time? Was it the same or similar to what happened originally?

It may just be a glitch. A piece of hardware may have been temporarily overloaded and Windows saw it as a driver fault (has happened to me).

Third party programs may be controlling the drivers and they may not "work 100% ", that's why you find programs are revised and upgraded.

Are you confident in your drivers? Check at the hardware manufacturer's website. Graphics drivers might work better at or near, their original version.

I might not worry about it unless it became more than "occasional ". Watch what you are running when it happens.
