My windows clock is missing, it has been for some time now, hovering the mouse over the area will still show the date, dubble clicking in the area still opens the Date and Time properties. Show the clock is checked off in Task Bar and Start Menu properties.

Does anyone have any suggestions? A friend suggested that the clock itself is no longer on my computer, I say thats BS, because I can still open the properties.

Any help would be greatly appriecated.

Click HERE to go to Kelly's Korner. Scroll down to line 134 and in the right-hand column, click on "Undo" to download a small reg file. Use it according to the directions at the top of that page and hopefully the clock will reappear.

If you'd rather do the registry edit manually, open the reg file in Notepad to see the change it makes.

RisenDeMoN--When you right clicked on a blank spot on the Taskbar (the bar where the clock used to be)|Properties|and checked the box "Show the Clock ", did you click OK|Apply|OK on the way out?.

Yes I clicked on apply, besides, I said it was already checked.

And the Registry fix you suggested miz, did not work. Thanks for trying though. Anymore suggestions?

    Hi RisenDemon,
Is there an empty space in the systray where the clock would ordinarily be. Is it possible that your using some colored font that blends in with background of the systray or some form of transparency (such as many video drivers/adapter/software has, built into them) that makes icon/taskbar/systray transparency level adjustable. If using a customized display setting have you tried a windows default (one with a more normal, expected or default font color and size, then raise the taskbar to two lines, then lower? (clock will display time, date, and day of the week if raised to show two levels. Perhaps some sort of gotcha occurred here between a theme, lock taskbar, resize, show or hide...etc.

    Possible workaround.....
How about giving tclock a whack at making it visible again. I personally use "tclock light" (I like the option in this version for clock sound effect. I have mine using cuckoo clock sound for my sound chime. Downloaded the wav from the net.):
A walkthrough of the various settings that can be used:

    To get it:

Speaking of tweakers is it possible that you have used some systray or taskbar tweaker that either had a builtin clock replacement or made clock customizations. Got anything running in the backgtound or in startup folder that might do this?
    ---------------
Are you using the option to hide unused icons in the systray? I know there is an advanced setting somewhere in this that allows you to individually pick what shows or hides, perhaps there's some gotcha' tied into this. Forgive the muddiness of the particulars on this variable but I don't personally hide the icons and never have used that option.
    ---------------
I know many of the settings for the clock its self can be found in the reg at:
    At HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International
Exactly what many of these values control, though, are, as yet, unknown to me, I'm working on it...... (trying to find something that would control the x/y placement of the clock text in the systray)
    ---------------
    Windows amnesia????
You mentioned checking the "show clock in systray option ", sometimes windows forgets. Often disabling the option, reboot, and enabling the option once again, reboot.... will work.

    To miz,
Kelly's reg patch is a "policy" reg patch which results in the option "to show the clock" being greyed out as an option or the "undo" ungreys or makes available the option. Had the user reported that the option was greyed/unavailable as an additional symptom, then this patch would have fixed that. Since the user mentioned that they had checked or double checked this already and never mentioned any problem with the option being unavailable or greyed, I had already dismissed this as a possibility. Don't blame you for offering it though, reg bloopers happen and this was worth a shot, regardless (and is easily reversible or not harmful).

The space is there, it it only about 1/4th the size it should be though (in width). I really don't have a problem with the clock not being there, just that on all my files it doesn't tell me the date it was created, so it's really starting to P*ss me off if you know what I mean. It's more annoying then anything. It well be fixed when I do my monthly format in two weeks, if I can't solve it by then anyways.
