I am visiting my parents. They have windows 98 (not se) on their computer. When I first arrived it worked fine. I was on the internet printed two things, logged off the internet, and played Bejeweled that was loaded on the computer with a disc. After the game was over, and closed down the computer locked up. I got it to turn off but not through the shut down just turned off the computer after several attempts to shut down gracefully. I let it set a few hours went back to turn it on, it went through the "repair" routine and showed the desktop as it would normally show after boot up. Unfortunately it switched to a Blue Screen. It was not a memory dump message.

The only thing I can thing of is to use a boot disc. Is this the correct approach or can someone point me in another direction. The Windows 98 CD can not be found or I would use it.

    Thanks.

Can you explain what the "repair routine" is? What it looked like? What it said?

Also, what is the message on the blue screen?
