Quite frankly, sometimes computers don't work as advertised. We must remember that Windows computers are mongrels. They can be assembled from an array of parts. That they work at all is amazing!

Sometimes Windows hangs up on me when I download updates or install programs that require restarting. In those cases, I just hard shutdown and manually boot the computer again.

Usually, what has to be installed gets installed during the booting process.

Lots of times it's one program that causes the problem. I would do control/alt/delete. Shutdown one program, then try to restart. Go through each one, leave systray and explorer alone. You may find the culprit that way.

Hi ... I believe in my case its this computer not the software because it wouldn't restart from the get go... When i first installed windows 98 without the drivers just 98 it wouldn't do it from that point... It hasn't done so even after i downloaded all the drivers and taken all that i needed from windows updare site as well
