    Greetings,

I've discovered my Windows 8 apps are not automatically updating. I have "Automatically update my apps" set to Yes but thought I'd test to see if they are working by pressing "Check for updates" and lo and behold it informs me that there is an app update for Bing Weather available, so I installed it manually. Later on I manually checked again and it told me an app update for Bing News was available, so I installed that. Now today I've just checked again and it tells me there is an app update for Skype!

Surely they should be updating automatically and I shouldn't have to press "Check for updates ". Why is this happening? I am not on a metered connection. Also, I am not receiving any numbers on the Windows Store app telling me that there are updates available. Please advise.

Hi Templar, Welcome to WindowsBBS. :)
Are you referring to MS "Important/Critical" updates or just "Optional" updates?
I usually check WU once a week to see what's happening and Bing are not shown as Critical/Important.
I would not expect "Optional" updates to be installed automatically. Neil.

    Hello retiredlearner,

Thank you for the welcome. I am not referring to the updates accessed via control panel > windows updates (they work fine), but rather the App updates on the metro/modern interface accessed via start button > windows store > settings > app updates. I have it set to automatically receive app updates but when I check manually there are occasionally updates available that have not been automatically installed. I'd send a screen capture of what I'm on about but I can't see any attachment options.
