Windows 8.1 can not access linksys router

Can not access Linksys cisco router at 192.168.1.1. A windows security box comes up allowing me to put in username and password but not accept it. Username and password are correct, and router is connect correctly. I am just wanting to get to the web-based router setup page to reconfigure some settings. Able to do all this with old XP machine but recently go new computer and have windows 8.1 for operating system. Can someone please assist with this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

Try pressing the reset button on the router. It will default to Admin and go from there.

Try shutting everything off. Then turn on the Modem and wait about 2 minutes. Then turn on the Router and wait 2 minutes. Then turn on the Computer and see if you can access it. If it is a Modem/Router turn it off and wait 2 minutes then turn on the PC.

 

Can you right now access the router's admin menu with that XP system? Or was that awhile ago?

If you can see the router's Admin sign-in page, then your computer's network connection IS working.
