    Hi.

I got Win7 laptop that connecting to the router by Wireless connection and Vista PC that connected through LAN.
When I looking on the Network Map, I see both computers, but I can't access files/printers from one to another.
I set them both to same workgroup name, and tried to follow some tutorials to set the Net, but it still doesn't work.

Any idea what I might doing wrong?

    Hi Magic,

    Welcome to BBS

Have you set the network to private on both systems and set permissions for sharing?

    regards Jac

    Hi Jac.

On Vista I set it on private, and on Win7 I connected to Work Network, because as I understand the Home Network is only for Win7 to Win7.

Do you have password protected sharing turned off, if not you will be asked for a password this will be usually what ever is for each personal user account on the other machine.
Home or work usually act the same in 7
In network sharing centre click on advance sharing settings, check the settings there?

I'm still searching my hms for how I set mine up, (XP, Vista & 7) I must start writing things down?!

    Password protection is OFF.

The thing is, the PCs see each other screenshoot, but I can't even click on the other one on the map.

Strange mine can't detect any connected devices to show me the full map or any map for that, my home net is set up wirelessly?
My daughter who is visiting from interstate, her laptop is working on our system (vista) I don't remember doing anything major in setting hers up.
I'm stuck on this one but I will keep watch and post if I can work through how I have mine working

    Jac

PS have you tried setting it up as home on the win7, instead of work?

I just tried to change to Home from Work, but nothing really changes.
I can see the map, but can't access another PC.

I just changed Work to Home, but it looks the same.
I see the PC on the map, but can't access it.
