My husband had to use my desktop for a couple of weeks till his new business laptop came in. He installed his printer on my computer and set it as the default. When I got my computer back upstairs and changed the default printer back to mine, the printer icon in the notifications area of the task bar disappeared and I haven't be able to figure out exactly what happened here. Is there any way to get this printer icon back? Thanks.

Start/All Programs and find your printer then RIGHT click on it and then Send to Desktop. Drag it to the task bar. Don't know why you would want it there. Should pull up when you go to print something and let you do your thing from there.

Right-click notification area, select Customize notification icons, find the printer icon & adjust its settings.

You also may need to install the printer software. There's also a chance that your new printer doesn't put an icon in the notification area.
