I have tested an application compiled in DOS 16bit on a new W7 PRO 32bit system with a French keyboard.
The app runs perfectly (reads dBASE files, screens, colours and updates indexes ..) but as soon as the EXE file is loaded in memory, the French kboard is toggled down to US.
I tested the DOS cmd file supplied with W7. This operates the French kboard
correctly but when running the same app from this DOS window, the keyboard is
    switched back to US.
I've read in a forum that the issue comes from a CONFIG.NT and AUTOEXEC.NT that W.7 reads when loading the DOS EXE file. I have been able to edit both with old DOS commands like COUNTRY=FRENCH and KEYB FR, then restart the system and the EXE. Nothing ever changed. What shall I do ?

Welcome to BBS, difficult to find much on this issue but hope this will help.

There is some information in this link about the dos keyboard command.

    http://www.computerhope.com/keybhlp.htm

This implies the command you need is this:
    keyb fr, ,c:\dos\keyboard.sys

I got this in another forum. the link is in French, I'm assuming that won't be a problem.

We may have some members who have more experience with using dos so there may be more help to follow.
