    Windows 7 64 bit,Pro
My media player quite working. I try to open a video in WMP and get an error that say C:\user\myname\ videos\ video title mp4
    Server execution failed
It worked last week, but now I get that message with any video I try to open in WMP. They will play in VLC Player fine.
I went to programs and features, turn on /off features and unchecked media player ,rebooted and went back rechecked it, and rebooted. Still won't work. Is their anything else to do?
If I have to reinstall it How would I do that, I do have the windows 7 pro disk It's an upgrade version

I did remove Firefox and a program Freecoder 4 using revo uninstaller and used the register cleaner in revo clean register of program entries, so register entries were deleted.
Maybe, I could have checked and delete some media player entries.

Try a system restore to a point before you cleaned the registry, and a small tip, avoid registry cleaners in the future. They have minimal effect on system performance but can be catastrophic if used foolishly.

I solved this I by use win 7 system restore, then had to go back and uninstall those two programs. media player is now playing my videos,
Wildfire thanks. I do not use those register cleaners because they will cause problems.
I do use the Revo uninstaller to clear out left over register enters in that the program uninstaller leaves behind Have to watch them each as I check them to be removed
Pete, I am looking at your reply so I can read it and learn that fix

    Thanks all

Good to see you got it sorted John, but even in that situation I wouldn't be too concerned about clearing redundant registry entries. Seriously they rarely cause issues, it's generally the cleaning process that cause problems.
