Recently, after a hard disc failure, I had to re-install Windows 7. Everything was normal after setting it up except for colour management and screen calibration. I have been using Photoshop for several years and calibrating my monitors using an i1 Display 2, but after this re-installation Windows refuses to use the calibrated profile.
I have again re-installed Windows but the problem persists.
I let the screen run for at least thirty minutes, carry out the calibration, which makes a dramatic difference. I can now work on photographs with correct colours but if I shut the machine down, on the re-start Windows will not use the profile.
The profile is in place in the Colour Management dialogue, 'Use my settings for this device' is ticked, and the profile is set as 'Default'.

Has anyone experienced this problem, and cured it?

    Roger:(

You're welcome - I would have thought that X-rite would have that programmed in to uncheck in software. Can't recall if I had a problem when migrating to 7 but my eye-one software was originally Greta Macbeth, now X-rite.
