I just purchased a Dell Studio XPS 7100 AMD Athelon II X6 2.7 GHZ.
I am unable to print using my old Dell 924 printer. I am running Windows 7 (64 bit) I have found bumerous links to fix the problem but none of them seem to be working. I am not that computer savvy so if anyone would be willing to explain this to me step by step I would really appreaite it! Not sure what they mean by locating the executable file in this link, so the solution did not work for me if anyone can help thanks!!!!

Not at all sure that you will succeed - the drivers at Dell are 32 bit and you are running 64 bit Windows requiring a 64 bit driver.

You can try downloading the Windows XP 32 bit driver (_G11AWeb32924EN.exe) from here .....

    http://support.dell.com/support/dow...abIndex=&scanSupported=True&scanConsent=False

Double click the .exe file and run - and unzip the files to the default folder shown .... c:\drivers\printer\924\

Right click on setup.exe > Properties > Compatibility and select XP SP3 and Apply (screenshot)

    Run setup.exe

If your printer is PostScript, you may try Xerox's Global Printer Driver.

I haven't used it myself, but if even if 50% of what Xerox says is true, it should work.

Dell doesn't make printers. That model is made by Lexmark and branded for Dell. However, the only drivers that will work with it are the Dell drivers. Lexmark drivers won't work with it.

It's an older model printer & is discontinued. Dell won't be releasing 64bit drivers for it.

Thus you only option would be to try one of the opensource or xerox postscript universal drivers.
