(I read this thread that was started and finished in 2005, but not quite resolved. re-posting since the system does not allow continuing that thread.)

I have win2K installed on two different hard drives (multi-boot).
    1. The one installed around 2003 is mostly working-- no freezing etc problem.
    2. The second one I just installed has been giving this "freeze up" problem (I believe) only after installing sp4.

** The event viewer has no record of any failure or error.
** Can not even start the window in the "safe mode ".
** Tried the VGA mode, it worked little longer-- about 30 seconds before freeze-up. (The normal time for freezeup is about 10 seconds after log-in).

Motherboard: It is a dual cpu Tyan Tiger S2466N-4M (note that since drive:[1] has been working perfectly for more than 2 years, MB should not be an issue)
The drivers installed are: (before sp4): nvidia GeForce2 MX 100/200, 3COM NIC and SB 5.1. After SP4 I installed HP F4100 printer driver.

    Please provide some ideas.

    Thank you,
    -Javaid

Did you install the mobo/video card drivers and all the other MS Updates?

Yes I did every single MS update and the Video driver was the latest.
BTW the older built is running fine with the same version of the NVidia driver. (on an older HD)

    Thanks,
