i am running server with windows 2000 server on it, and have many windows 98 machines connected to it. The server is setup as a DNS server. I try to add a windows XP machine to it and I can get it added, but it can not resolve the address or get the routes from the DSN server for some reason. All the windows 98 and 2000 machines work great connected to it. Does anyone know if there is anything special that needs to be done for the XP machines?

I have it configured with static ip on the clients, i have the dsn configured on the XP machines. and 2 are running service pack 1 and 3 are running service pack 2. I have set up the DNS addresses under the network adaptor, and also added the computer to the domain under the properties of the "MY computer" icon. Also the computer is added to active directory.

If you have a domain that computers have allready be on the AD.
Do you try to register a SVR record on the DNS for that DSN server?

    WINDUX,

Just wanted to say thanks for your insight. Come to find out it was a very stupid oversight on me. It was one of those things that make you kick your self in the butt when you realize the problem. I had the default gateway pointing to the incorrect address. DUH--DUH --- moron moment!
