jazzbo - we had the exact same issue with a 2K server and finally located an article that gave the specific cause and an easy fix. But at the moment I can't remember what. The guy that finally located the article is gone for the day but I can ask him tomorrow if you haven't gotten an answer by then.

I do remember it is nothing that you would suspect as the cause.

You say on reboot (restart), that means it starts up from power off correctly?

If so does it always shut down and powerdown properly?

If so then do you have any kind of SCSI, USB or firewire external devices.

    Clarify your problem!

By stalling do you mean a long pause, then it boots?

Or from what you are saying you cannot boot at all?

If you can how do you get past this and get it up?

Can you boot to safe mode? Then shut down normally?

The reason I asked about USB! And I asked if you had USB devices attached, I assumed you had USB! Is that some powered USB devices will cause this on some computers on reboot (ie not a shutdown). And your question said reboot as opposed to powering up!!!!!
