    Anyone could help with this?

I have a Windows 2000 connected to a Novell network. The normal restrictions to non-administrators users apply (Everyone and Users groups).

When a user logs in to the network, the local login screen comes up asking for the local password that does not exists, of course, and the user cannot login. This is happening with one machine only as the same user can login properly from another machine. I assume it is some setting in this particular 2000 that is causing the problem.

    Any idea?

    Thanks!

Delete the user's profile from documents & settings, boot the box, and have him/her try again.

You very likely have a corrupt user profile and this way the user gets a new, clean copy at next logon.

    Thanks Newt!

In my case, there are no other users profile. The user in question is a volatile user dictated by the Novell policy: it is created during login and deleted after log off. There are only two profiles in the WS: dministrator and myself as administrator.

This works for every other WS so it is not a Novell problem. it is something in this particular WS.

    Another tip?

    Thanks guys,

The problem was that when I installed the Novell client I did not tick the Workstation Manager. This is the one that controls it. All is well now.

    Cheers!
