windows 200 problem?

    I just installed windows 2000 service pack 4 on my other comp and now when ever I start-up I get this message then it restarts when done and I can never get to my desktop:

    0xEB8000 is too short. But couldn't search up a match for 0xEB800000 either.

    This is the sort of error you get when a SP and an existing driver on your system won't work together. Hard to tell exactly what though. Windrvr.sys causes a very similar error with SP3.

    Best suggestion I can make is boot to safe mode (at least it probably will) and remove SP4.

    Newt is exactly correct Blazer. I had the exact problem as you. and that's what i did. It ended being the AV. I forgot to stop the service before installing sp4, and after the install, i couldn't, and still can't use the FW that goes with it (my AV is Panda). So be sure all 3rd party services are stopped before the install and you should be fine. I'm sure M$ is aware of the issue, bu I don't understand why they haven't come up with a fix.
