Hello, I have been trying for days to import my old Profile into my new Thunderbird file but it just does not work.
I saved my profile duoexdi.default but now I can't replace it with the new one that was created.
I go to tools, import, mail and it asks me the type of file, (Becky Internet Mail, Outlook, or Outlook Express.
I don't have anything like this.

It would make my day if someone can help me get my old profile back. I have exhausted all avenues. I have so many folders in my old profile that I would hate to lose them.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Jean

P.S. I have done this before with no problem but I was using Vista or XP.

Just copy the contents of duoexdi.default to:
    C:/Users/<your username>/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/xxxxxxxxx.default
    "Replace" if prompted.

I'm sorry I thought I had it solved until I went to print a letter. The following message is what I get when I try to send.
    Alert
An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: cdptpa-cmomta01
    cmsmtp Connection Rejected - see http://www.spamhaus.org/query/ip/5.62.49.20 AUP#0-1300.

Do you think I have my server settings messed up now. It used to work before I reformatted the computer.

    Thank you.
    Jeanne

Are you using Avast Cloud for email?

I am using Avast Antivirus. I do not know if it is the "Cloud" though. I just installed it a couple of days ago and paid $35.88 for it.

    Hi Jeanne,
Did you wipe the drive? or did you use Recovery where you can save your files and Refresh W10?
The choice I have used was the latter and you have to renew Software that was added to W10 e.g. Mozilla FF or TB.
When I downloaded Mozilla FF and TB, I had to use Edge as the browser and when the new download of TB was installed, I had to sign in with my email address and TB did the rest.
TB connected with my gmail account (which I had to sign into) and when that was done - everything was back to normal. All my mail was still in gmail.;)
I also had to re-install MS Word (using the DVD) and all my documents were there and accessible.

According to the error link you posted your IP address is blacklisted. Email servers use blacklists of known spam IP addresses to combat spam. It's possible either your computer or another customer of your Internet provider had a trojan that was sending spam. To correct this you will have to contact your ISP and ask them to reset your modem with a new IP address.

Sorry I didn't answer sooner. Yes I reformatted my drive. I wish I would have done what you suggested above but too late now. After many days of working on the problems, I think I probably have it working properly. Thank you for all your help.
