Windows 10 will not allow me to save edited files in My Documents, when I edit a text file and try to save it I get "File already exists do you want to replace it" I click yes and it tells me I do not have permission?

Hi aussiejohn, What software is the text file edited in?
I'm using MS Word 2013 and just opened a Document and made changes to the text and closed the Word and was asked in the usual menu whether I wanted to save the changes or not.
I asked to Save and the Word closed without problem.
Are we talking the same job? Neil.

Hi Neil it is just a simple text.txt file, It is a file where I keep my receipts in, I added a new receipt and tried to save and close it simple as that!

My Notepad in W10 is working OK. I edited an email message that I had copy/pasted into Notepad. I Saved and closed Notepad. I opened and added another email message to the previous saved file and closed Notepad.
I then opened Notepad again and both emails were there with the edting I had done and no funny messages.
I hope this is what you were doing. Neil.

If you don't have MS Office, (I don't) use one of the free Office programs.
KINGSOFT now wps.office is a excellent alternative to MS, Libre Office, Softmaker, they are all MS Office compatible.

I found an easy answer myself, go to the properties of the Documents folder, go to share and share the folder, works fine now!
