Just purchase a new desktop. I am attempting to load W2K Pro on it. Setup runs to the point of configuring the desktop icons, then it get various page fault errors and reboots. I have tried just about everything I can think of. I still need to try swapping the DDR memory out, already reseated it. Anybody have some good ideas????

    What kind of desktop?
    Brand name, or whitebox?
    What hardware is in it?
    What motherboard?
    What video card?
Have you changed anything in BIOS setup?
Have you installed the chipset drivers?
    Have you checked heat temps?

It is whitebox. The manual that came with it says it is a PC-DDR266 systemboard. Socket A M825 series.
built in video 128bit 2d/3d AGP Graphic accelerator, 10baseT/100baseTX network interface, AC97 codec
sound, PS2 mouse and keyboard ports, 1 serial port, 1 parallel port and up to 6 USB ports ( 4 on back panel.
Chipset is VIA KM266, CPU is an Athlon 1.1Ghz.
    1 - 184 pin DIMM (256MB) DDR memory
    1 40GB hard drive, 1 floppy drive, 1 CD-ROM.
    2 -IDE buses.

There is no bios setting for shadowing, heat temps were ok. Have been working with side cover open.
I have tried disabling the network adapter, and audio with no luck.

    Reboot,

Thanks for the reply. I have fixed the problem. The 256MB Dimm was defective. I had purchased 3 machines, so I borrowed another Dimm from another machine and Windows completed install and is up and running on my network.

Good call. Too many times lately I have seen faulty RAM causing problems. It seems quality control is not what it used to be, and that includes Micron/Corsair/Crucial et al, not just the bargain brands.
