Win98 will not load/run Internet Explorer from Icons
My system will not load and run Internet Explorer from the normal desktop icons, nor will it respond to clicking htmls from emails, to reply or go to websites from email text. I am able to go through a back door approach, and go through windows update, then to home. A file or folder has been deleted, I strongly suspect, in my attempts to rid my machine of paralyzing
spyware. I get an error message: " error 1157 Cannot find or import DLL,
file may be missing or corrupt. File MSVBVM60.DLL" Aside from losing all of my data and reinstalling the system, does anyone have ideas on how to restore Internet Explorer? I have downloaded an update from the website,6.0, and apparently the needed files did not write. Bonanzapilot

Win98 should offer a repair feature. Go to Control Panel -Add/Remove- click on Internet Explorer 6. - click on remove - it should give you the option to repair. Try it and maybe it will fix your problem.
If that doesn't work, you could try a System File Check. Start -Run -SFC - put your Win98 CD in the CD ROM first - click on "check for missing or changed files.

If the Internet Explorer Repair Tool Verification does not work, or if Internet Explorer 5 is not listed in the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel, you may be able to start the Internet Explorer Repair tool from a command prompt. To do so, click Start, click Run, and then in the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK:
    rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt "
NOTE: This command is case sensitive.
