My client has some e-mails from Outlook Express V6 Win 98 (.dbx format) that she wants transferred to her new WinXP Outlook Express. I know the format changed between Win 98 and Win XP, but how can I smoothly integrate the old e-mails from the Win 98 box into the WinXp box??

Only for the original versions of OE supplied with each OS. OE6 running under 98 or XP uses *.dbx files as store folders.

    Win98 OE6 to WinXP OE6

    Welshjim,

I think the first method you gave will work for me. On question though - when the 'old' messages and mail file are imported into the 'new' OE6, will they be added to what is already there, or will they overwrite what's there?

Purple Haze--I cannot tell you. I have done this only with a brand new PC when I had no new messages.
But why not also back up the new messages and then try the import of the old?
My guess is that everything will be OK and you will add instead of replace, but if not you will have the old messages where you want them and we can figure out how to get the backed up new ones into the proper folders.
My guess, at worst, is that you can just paste the new email .dbx files (copied from whereever you have them backed up) into the .dbx files (like Inbox or Sent Items) into the Store Folder of the new PC.
You can find the location of your Store Folder from OE Tools|Options|Maintenance tab|Store Folder.
