    Hi,
I am getting some problem with my sound card driver. Its not installing prpperly. I am using windows 98. Sound card is build-in in motherboard. How can I detect which type of sound card it is so that I can download the appropriate drivers.

Please help. Thanks for your co-operation.

    Download and run Aida32

This should give you details of your motherboard and of the embedded sound. Then go to the manufacturer's web site - sound or mobo and download the drivers.

If you have a driver CD for your mobo the sound drivers should be on that - check out the manual if you have it.

    Hi,
Thanks for reply. I installed the software you recommended, checked the motherboard make and downloaded the appropriate drivers.
But one problem I am still having. I am not able to send or record my voice. I tested with sound recorder, but can't record. Same is with msn messenger, I can't hear the voice of my friend but he can't hear mine.
I checked my microphone, connections. All are fine.

Any ideas how to cure this problem.

    Thanks

In the control panel>multimedia>audio tab make sure the proper device is selected for recording. In start menu>programs>accessories>entertainment>volume control check mic settings.
