win95 to operate on win7

    How do I install an old game that requires either win3.1 or win95 on win7.
    Have tried the compatibility mode with no sucess.
    Any suggestions anyone.

    Not sure about Virtual Box (use that for XP on 8) or indeed XP Mode in Win 7 (use that for XP) as both use virtual hardware. Whether or not the virtual graphics can handle the games is a question I cannot answer - never play/played games :)

    Also need to bear in mind that Virtual box will require a copy of 3.1 or 95 installed as the OS.

    On the front page of virtualbox.org, it states it runs win 3.1 and DOS etc. and yes you would need a copy of the operating system to run as guest. For example I have Windows 8 running in a virtual box, win 2008 server running in virtual box and the host system is win 7 professional 64 bit

    I'm sure the OP has a copy of win 95 or 98 or can get one. MS doesnt check licenses anymore on these legacy products

    But it doesn't give you license to pirate. You need to have a licensed copy of the OS.
