Have a Win95 machine that logs into Novell fine, however when there is a realtek network card installed, after the Novell dialog has gone there is an error message..
"No Domain server was available to validate your password, some network resources might be unavailable "

A MS Networking dialog then appears with the users name, hidden password and domain name.

I then type in the password, click 'OK' and the same error appears but Windows loads up ok.

If I then try to run Outlook it starts up ok. (Outlook 98)

If I try a 3com combo card in the same machine I don't receive the "Domain error" or the 'Networking dialog' Just the Novell one, log in and windows loads up. However....

If I try to run Outlook I then have to enter a user name, domain name and password. Then and only then will it run.

Now both passwords are synchronised and are the same. It only happens on this machine and If I log into other Win95 they are fine with no error, no networking dialog, no problems :)

I have checked the WINIPCFG and that all seems fine.

Any ideas what I need to check/remove/replace??

It has been suggested I format the machine as the registery might have got a bit 'confused' :E

before you start - always make sure you have the latest version of the Novell Client32.

Try uninstall (via the UNC32.EXE utility in the admin client32 admin directory) - reboot - reinstall latest Novell Client32

    also Try uninstall - reboot - reinstall - TCP/IP

also make sure you have Netbeui or IPX/SPX installed (whatever is running on the NT server.

sound stupid, but check the spelling of the domain name in Client for MS networks | Properties

apart from that, ditch the realtek NIC and buy some more 3com's if they work for you.
    cheers
