I did the "Custom" install with formatting. After the format,
win7 cd ask for a signed driver location I had no such driver
plus no name or location of what it was asking for.
In frustration, i powered down/up, then it started saying it
couldn't find the "bootmgr ", again i had no idea what it
    wanted.

Finally, i started from scratch and told it to install to a
different partition (than C). So now it thinks i'm in a multi-boot environment!!

Plus, I can setup my desktop with the colors and settings
i want but win7 ignores most of them and i'm stuck with
    the windows logo and colors.
And, trying to create a repair disk works but trying to
create a system image DVD, will ask 6/7 times to
format the DVD, same with selecting a full backup!

So either i'm dumb (a good possibility), or i still dont have
    a good install.....

If I could go back to XP or vista I would (tried vista during
the above problem (driver, bootmgr) but nope.

    thanks,
    savagcl

What mode is sata set on in your bios if it's AHCI windows might require the drivers for your onboard storage controller.

I compared the bios to a previous listing, nothing has
    changed....

I'm going to consider this resolved.

    Thanks for the reply,
