For the last couple of months my Win2000Pro based desktop has started re-booting on it's own, whenever it feels like it. The re-boot is normally preceeded by (an unknown source) large disk activity.

The system has been confirmed to have no viruses, trojans, spyware or any other form of malware.

Simple system maintenance like defragging etc.. has no effect.

I found a "hotfix" in the MS knowlwedge base, but it did nothing to help the problem.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Thanks

    Andrew

    Welcome!
Start by reading the 'stickies' in this forum and then after running adaware, spybot, and one of the online antivirus scans mentioned, if nothing has been found or fixed, post a hijackthis log in the Removing spyware and viruses forum.
