    Hi all

I've a weird problem using win XP. In case of power failure (which is so frequent in our country & I do't have any APS to use) I lose all the stored web pages in the favourite section of I.E available for offline viewing & which i've saved for so many days.

The space allocated for temporary internet files is more than enough.

As a precaution I've disabled "write disk caching on disk" to avoid data loss

Strangely, this never happens incase of power failure while using win ME as i'm currently using both op system in two different partitions.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Regards

    Ayaz

Can't give specific ideas on your problem except to say that I really don't trust some of the mutant folders like temporary internet files and try to avoid relying on them.

You might try a repair of IE.

My best suggestion would be to bypass the whole automatic "offline" thing and do it yourself.

Create a folder. Then when you want to keep pages for later, offline viewing, save it to that folder as a "web archive, single file (.mht)" file. It should then be available to you with all it's various parts just like the original page on the web. BTW - "web page, complete (.htm)" is anything but complete.

Yes if u have power failure it will wipe out your pages FROM RAM I suggest u use notes pilot to store webpages(www.surfpilot.net)
or alternative is to backup in folder .,, for this locate your store folder go internetoption ,maintenance tab, locate store folder and copy to floppy ,nrmally favorite folder is in window or use search tool for file favorite*.*

Thank u all for you replies. But the ease with which i can use the stored favourite pages in the default location can't be achieved by the alternative means, that is by storing it on floppy or in another location i can't access the links on those pages (links) which i've visited even if i store it over the floppy, and beside i have to store each page separately which is very tiresome.

The strange that happens is that the pages are still there in the temporary internet files folder but the links in the favourites get unhighlited due to the power failure and are no more available for offline viewing.

    regards

then i suggest u install notes pilot software which seats in IE itself and has options to make folders and drag and save tools to store web pages.
