    Hi,

let's say I'm in need to do a clean format of my HDD on which are two O/S - Win XP Pro and Win2k Pro.

Which of these two O/S should be re-installed first and why? Does it matter, at all?

    Thanks!

knucles had the "what" part of your question pegged. With any multi-boot using M$ operating systems, start by putting the oldest on first, then next oldest, and so on.

The why is fairly simple. In your case, 2K runs NT5.0 and XP runs NT5.1. 2K doesn't understand the first thing about NT5.1 but if it is on your system when you load XP, the XP install has a bit of code that "teaches" 2K about 5.1 and even does some minor conversion on the 2K OS files.
