Hi folks, Am back with a new problem, I have been given a system with a problem to repair, (Why me!). When you try to boot the system it goes through the usual systems checks and then on to the xp flash/load up screen after a few seconds the screen goes two tone blue with fussy lines and thats it, the system does not respond to any thing after that. Reboot after reboot this happens. One time this message came up,

    ACPI.SYS
    Disable BIOS caching or shadowing
    0x00000050
    (0xeaa390bc, 0x00000001, 0xf9e7e5b, 0x00000002)
    ACPI.SYS
    Address f9e7feb5 base at f9e5fooo
    Date stamp 3b7d8550.

I looked in the BIOS but could not find any shadowing enabled as for the cach I was not sure which one to disable.

    Any help welcome.

    Few steps to try:

    • Update the BIOS
    • Disable or Update Device Drivers
    • Remove Unsigned Drivers
    • Remove All Third-Party Drivers

First I'd look in getting the latest BIOS, and see if that solves the problem.

Caching is usual on the Advanced Menu.

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply, I have not yet tried a bios upgrade I am not too confident in doing this with this system as it is not my own.
I seem to have got the system as far as the desk top but it freezes there with black verticle lines on the screen.
Also how do you remove system drivers using dos mode I am not sure because this system seems to be different from any other I have used, it may be because it is XP system.
    Any help please.

    UPDATE!
If I boot in safe mode I get as far as the desk top but the screen is fuzzy with thin black lines and you see it as if you had treble vision.

    LATEST ERROR MESSAGE
    STOP: 0X0000007E (0XFA2C35E0,0XFA2C33A4,0XFA2C30A4)

remove system drivers using dos mode

Can't be done. XP does not have DOS. It does have an app that looks like a DOS window but there is no DOS. Safe mode will usually do the same job and if not, booting to the recovery console will allow you to do some things from a command prompt. Still not DOS but XP with almost nothing (including the GUI) loading.

Stop 0x0000007e can have a large variety of causes. There should have been more information on the error screen (including a 5th set of numbers) so more detail would help.

    SORRY!

I MISSED A SET OF NUMBERS
    0X0000007E (0X0000005,0XFA2C35E0,0XFA2C33A4,0XFA2C30A4)

And yes I have realised there is no dos in Xp, bit by bit am getting to know this os.

I have the system working now in safe mode but when I reboot to normal mode after the XP loading screen the screen goes blank.
I have searched various sites but none come up with my exact problem.

This sounds like a rare conflict caused in ACPI by caching the video BIOS.

Check the MBD BIOS settings to see if it is caching the display BIOS - try disabling it.

Its a longshot - but a simple test. - also how is the screen quality when on a BIOS page?

Edit - also try setting the display adaptor refresh rates to "default" in safe mode.
