Win XP --> Linux Samba = Slow

Hello all, strange problem here.

Recently upgraded a system from Win 2000 SP2 to Windows XP Pro. Win 2000 had a logon script to auto logon to a samba box with the net command.

Using the same script can still logon to samba box but the connection is extremely slow, slow to browse and moving files takes forever.

It has the same configuration as the windows 2000 system previously, what new networking functions in win xp could be slowing down the connection?

Have you checked your event logs to see if errors are showing up that will give a hint?

Was hoping it would be something simple and obvious.

At this point, I'd suggest this Samba Mailing List Archive where you can do a google search of just their archives. I tried with xp slow and got quite a few hits that looked like they might apply to your situation.

FWIW - I run a couple of small apps on a Unix box /w Samba from XP-Pro SP1 and it is about the same as with 2K. So was XP-Pro SP0. But this is nothing heavy duty.
