    Hi all.
    I have the following situation
    4 pc's all running win xp sp1
    1 PC win xp sp2
3 lap tops with various versions of win xp
    2 printers

the router is zyxel 660 hw
    lap tops connect wirelessly.

on all pc's and lap tops I have set
    workgroup name
    ip as autoconfigure
    network speed as auto config

I tried using NetBios over TCP/IP

    enable browsing

I removed simple file sharing, set all permissions for shared folders, and removed guest accounts.

My machines can connect somewhat irratically to internet, some have decent connection, some practically no connection.
when I view workgroup computers, most of the time either workgroup is inaccessible, or I can see all machines or most of them, buut clicking to access workgroup is inaccessible, somemachines like the laptop I am on only show itself in workgroup.

Router is currently at default configuration, internet is being shared, all firewalls are down, router is firewalled.

Does anyone have any ideas to what could be happening?

Have you set up user accounts on all the computers for all the users that need to access those computers?

    hi thanks for the reply
the problem was 2 hubs. I didnt mention but a weel or so ago, a lightning hit near our location, on the ground. The whole network got messed up, I tested the hubs but they were working 50% of the time so conviniently they passed the simple tests I ran, and then I went through several days of testing troubleshooting and re-installing etc..
    back to normal now though.
