Resolved Win Updates fail to install

Windows Updates downloaded two security updates yesterday. They failed to install on the first attempt then and failed again twice today.

They were for Net Framework 2.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 on Windows Server 2003. I've tried various procedures suggested by Microsoft. I downloaded the updates manually and tried to install them but got the message that "none of the products addressed by this software are installed on this computer ". Both Net Framework 2.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 are on my list of programs, so I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to uninstall 2.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 and then download and install them again?

I followed Method 2 on this Microsoft site just now and uninstalled/installed three Net Frameworks and re-installed them again. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100

I don't know if that procedure corrected the problem, but the two security updates have now been installed.
