Windows "update history" shows my recent install of IE9 failed, but it didn't fail. IE9 works correctly, and it's listed under "installed updates" and is listed in the "programs and features" list. "Windows Updates" shows I have all updates. How do I change the "failed" to "successful "? Using Win 7/64, SP1.

First open up IE and go to Help/About IE and make sure it is Ver. 9

Hi chrisw. It could be an error in the Windows Update history. Since you have verified that IE9 is installed and it shows up in the list of Windows Updates then it has been installed.

This issue can happen if you try to install IE9 from Windows Update, it then fails to install and then you install it manually from the Microsoft website. So I wouldn't worry about it.

EO......I think I did install it from Win Update...it jumped on me after I had rolled back to IE8 (for another IE9 problem). I agree it's probably not a problem, but I do like everything "neat and tidy ". I'll live with it, tho. Thanks

You could always uninstall/rollback 9 and then REBOOT the machine and get 9 again.
