I am trying to access a Win2003 Server from a Linux box running Fedora Core 4 and using Samba.
I am able to read/write to the Windows shares in the GUI but hit a problem when trying to mount a Win share in the terminal.
    I am using :
    "mount -t smbfs -o username=0795 //server1/Z$ /mnt/zdrive "
this then prompts for my password .
The password is accepted but when I navigate to /mnt/zdrive and try 'ls' I get "Permission Denied "

If it is a Windows permissions issue why can i see the shares in a linux GUI?

I need to be able to properly mount the share so that I can point some software at it.

I cannot work out if this is a problem on the Linux side or the Windows side.
I have researched the Linux boards and no one seems to be able to offer a solution hence the post here to see if anyone can help.

    Thanks

    Clive

Try entering the username with the domain name:

    domain/username

(it may be a backslash rather than a forward slash). That forces the system to look you up as a domain user rather than a local user. It fixes a lot of peer to peer windows connections, and may work for you in Linux too.
