Win. Media player 10 not working

    on XP with media player 10 I get no sound at all, speakers do work fine as I test CD & DVD on other apps. But now I have DVD that must be played on media only why no sound on media player? been this way from day one.

    As Evan's second link suggests you may have a missing codec - try the K-Lite codec pack

    The Vista codec pack comes highly recommended and is OK for XP and also free.
    VLC Media Player is a worthwhile try if your Windows Media does not work, VLC will just about play anything you can throw at it, and it is free also.

    I let you know what my opinion of it is compared to VLC.

    well my friend, first impression looked OK, but it does not work in Windows 7, meaning it will not work in Vista neither unfortunately. Unless it is just not compatible with WMP I don't know. I am not going to uninstall WMP just to try.
    Maybe someone will and report back the result.
