Win ME FLOPPY DRIVE

    I just installed a new motherboard and everthing works except the floppy drive
    I installed a PC CHIPS M863G Motherboard on win ME. and when i start up it says Floppy Control Falure. I checked in the bios and the floppy control is
    enabled. i tried other floppy drives and the same thing. could this motherboard not support floppys. if so why do they have a conection for it,
    any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

    It's easy to insert the cable connector into the floppy drive "upside down ". Check that it is connected correctly.

    Tried that the light in the floppy stays on when the cable is wrong.

    Have you tried another cable to the floppy drive? Also PC Chips motherboards are known to problemic. I have always recommended not to buy them.

    Yes i put a brand new one on that came with the motherboard.

    it may be a defective motherboard
    reset the bios to factory defaults
    after that take out the battery ( watch battery) for several minutes
    you will have to reset the clock / date
