Windows exployer, Win.98-1st edition.. Whenever I go into windows exployer and right click on any file in left or right pane the drop down list takes about 3-minutes before appearing so that I can choose: open, delete, paste, etc. If I right click on any icon on the desktop the drop down list appears takes forever also. Checked for spyware, ad-ware, virus, etc, goes on intrernet okay, programs work okay, tried de-frag, and also tried an reinstall "overlay" of win.98 but same results. When I double click on Nortons A/V the shortcut does nothing but all other icons open the appropriate programs in short order. When I try to open the control panel it will open but takes forever to open. My computer opens normally for instance when I double click on the icon on desktop...Any ideas??????....Den..........

There should be a Norton AV icon in the system tray. Right click on it and left click on Disable or whatever terminology it uses. If you've got NAV disabled, a red X should overlay the icon. (This is a temporary setting and you can undo it by right clicking again and left clicking on Enable or by rebooting the computer.)

Once you've got most of NAV disabled, see if things improve. If so, you'll at least have identified the culprit.
