Well my floppy drive (a:) isn't working.

I formated the hard drive and the command.com file too.

The message I get now says:

The following file is missing or corrupted: C:WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
The following file is missing or corrupted: C:WINDOWS\DBLBUFF.SYS
The following file is missing or corrupted: C:WINDOWS\IFSHLP.SYS
The following file is missing or corrupted: COMMAND.COM

Type the name of the command interpreter (e.g., C:WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM)
    C>

So,I have some files on a cdrom that should boot up this thing but the computer isn't using them.
i set the bios to read Cdrom 1st---well I could use a few tips.

    Welcome to the BBS.

If you have a Windows 98SE disk, that is bootable. Watch carefully at startup there may be a line that says "Press Enter to boot to CD ", if you don't press Enter it will try to boot through to the harddrive.

If it may be the floppy disk that is no good, try downloading a Win 98 boot disk from here:
    www.bootdisk.com
and loading it onto a known good floppy.

If you have physically changed the drives around check the master/slave jumper settings and reseat the cable connections.

The drive is not completely formatted, apparently Io.Sys is still there. I believe that is where you are getting the above messages.
If it was, you would get the message 'no operating system found' or other words to that affect.
