First off I know this is the Win7 thread and I am complaining about IE8 problems.

However I have confirmed the problem is caused by Win7 and can be temporarily "Fixed" with a re-install of Win7.
The problem does not occur with IE8 under Vista so it is clearly, at least to me is a Win7 problem.

    Short summary.
Clean install of Win7 64 bit Nov 3
All seemed OK untill about Dec 3 when I could not get links that were imbedded in email to work. Also most links at many other web sites would not work.
I could copy the URL, Open a new tab and paste the URL and the new page would open.
Go to the IE8 site and you will find many posts about similar problems but I seem to be the only one that can not fix the Win7 problem. I have a couple of posts outlining most of the attempts I have made to fix this Win7 problem.

The problems of links not working does not occur using Foxfire. It also does not occur using IE8 on my Vista machine.

I finally did a Re-Install of Win7 and after spending the couple of hours to complete that task links started to work again.:D

BUT only for about 24 hours. They have stopped working again.

I have checked and no updates have been installed since 12/14.

Problem occurs under IE8 and both Gmail and Yahoo
No click through problem occurs with either email app when running Firefox.

NEW INfo Just spent another couple of hours doing second complete Re-Install of Win7 in a week. As happened with the previous re-install the click link problem seems to be fixed. BUT last time the Fix only lasted three days so I will wait to see if I can go longer than three days this time.
