My WIN 2K system has also started to freeze up. There is no specific app I'm running when it does. I've read the other threads and tried the suggestions: winmgmt /clearadap and /resyncperf; I've open my machine, all 3 fans are running, left door off, no help. I had the "NTLDR Missing" problem and used the thread to clear that. I also get a message when the machine boots that says "HardwareMonitor.exe has generated errors, will be closed by Win "

My machine ran good for about a year and has started this freezing the last month. I've run the SFC and it comes clean. I've run NAV (last updated in April) but it runs clean. I don't know how to find what it is doing when it freezes - I have to reboot. This is happening several times a day.

    Environment:
    M/B is FIC AZ11EA
    1.2 Ghz Athlon
    512 MB memory
    40GB harddrive
Win2K installed from clean disk about 1 1/2 years ago.

Where to from here? Any suggestions?

What do your error logs report?

    Admin Tools\Error Logs.

    How do I look?

I don't find the error logs in Admin Tools. When I look in Help all I find is Dr. Watson. How do I look at the error logs?

    - right-click My Computer
    - left-click Manage
    - expand Event Viewer
    - check both the system and applications logs for errors, failure audits and warnings. You can pretty much ignore success audits and other informational listings. In fact, under view~filter you can uncheck those to not have to see them while you are troubleshooting.

It might be easiest to clear the logs and reboot to get a fresh start so you don't have so many events to look thru.
