I have a network of 20 computers using windows 98 with a win 2000 server. I can see all the computers on the net work. I can print using one printer from all the computers on the net work. I can ping both ways from all computers. I shared my server c: drive with all users on the network with full control. THE PROBLEM: I install a software on my server that will allow the clients on the network to use. When I try to run the program from the clients computer I get this message. ( error 3051 Microsoft jet data can not open the file / servername/ local disk/ program/ file name / program I am tring to get to/ it is already open exclusively by another user or you need premissions to use its open data base.

There are no other computers using this data base, I have shared the date with full control. Know WHAT / help.!!

Some programs will not allow use over a network. Some require a mapped drive and use of the drive letter. Or you may have some other issue.

Easier to help if you said what the program was and posted an exact copy of an error message.

As a side note, IMO giving all users full control of a server's %system% drive is dangerous. Even if all are nice folks, too easy for someone to make a mistake and destroy the server.
