My daughters 4yr old computer recently died. Testing revealed the MB & CPU {Ausus ROG B550 w/ an AMD Ryzen9 3900xt CPU} both gave up the ghost.
Replaced the MB with the exact same model, but she could only afford a Ryzen 7 5900 CPU. Got the new components working temporarily with an extra SSD.

Question is will windows 10 with all her software on the main hard drive boot without any problems ??

Or will we have to do some type of repair to the OS ?? If so, what type of repair ??

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated....

I would get the PSU tested as there may have been a power surge to cook both those units!

It should work. Even if it does not in first instance, Windows should install the drivers automatically.

    @ retiredlearner,
PSU tested OK. That is the extent of my electrical expertise with computers.
When we got the new MB with the & tested with the old CPU it would not boot. Stopped posting at VGA section. Considering the AMD 9 series does not have onboard video, we feared the 3080 graphics cards was also toast.
My son was able to test it on his computer & everything checked out OK. I was able to test the memory on my comp & that checked OK also. So she ordered a new 7 series chip w/ onboard video.
The old CPU on the new MB would not boot. The old MB w the new CPU would not boot.
We got lucky & everything worked when put together. My first time working on a water cooled system.
    @ rsinfo,
Thanks for the info, I remember all the problem with win 7. I heard win 10 was more forgiving, but just wanted to be sure. She has some pretty high end programs on her drive & I didn't want to mess them up.
Thank you both for you assistance. We can mark this resolved.....

P.S. The parts cost only $75 more than what our local "GEEK" squad was gonna charge for diagnosis..

Hi OGG, Check my comp details. I had to use a graphics card with the AMD Ryzen 9 and then change my Monitor for it all to work.
I also had to Update the BIOS.
    Sometimes things aren't that simple.;)

    @ retiredlearner,
    Thank for the reply.
I know, every time there is an OS upgrade, all hell breaks loose. I remember the headaches I had with a similar problem in win 7. I miss the days of DOS, everything was simple then.
This time I got lucky. The only message I received was that it was getting the necessary drivers, then it booted right up & is still running.
    Ciao....
