I have an easy problem this time. I just installed a Flight Sim I own on an older computer. The game works but the video is jerky. The video is not real smooth and the sky doesnt look real.

The processor is an AMD 1.6 Gig, and I have 2-256meg chips. The OS is Windows XP Pro.

The game works perfect on my newest computer, It has an Pentuim 4 3.4 Gig Extreme and 1-Gig RAM. It also has a 128 meg video card.

Do you think a video card will help or would I be wasting my money?
If you think it might work, what should I look for in a good card?

    Thanks for your time

If you look at the game disk using Windows Explorer there will be a "readme" (maybe termed something similar) .txt or .doc file. Check the specifications of the hardware it requires.

If the computer has built-in graphics I would guess it has 32Mb or maybe 64Mb of graphics memory (RAM). You can find out by running dxdiag. Enter dxdiag at the Start -> Run command line. The Display tab will have detailed information about your graphics and some simple tests.

If your system meets the requirements, the problem may be drivers. Update or reinstall the chipset drivers, then a recommended version of the graphics drivers from the manufaturer's website or your drivers CD.

Check that the version of DirectX is high enough. The version is stated on the first (System) tab of dxdiag.

Everest in my signature can give you information about your system, and will tell you information you may need for purchasing the new card (it will probably have AGP 4X graphics capability, so you will need a card that is compatible with 4X).

How much RAM do you have? Since onboard graphics share the system RAM, you may not be able to allocate more than 16 or 32 MB if the system RAM is low. If you have less than 256 MB RAM, increase the RAM before buying a new VGA card.

Thanks guys. I completely forgot about dxdiag.

I should be able to get it from here, but if I run into any problems, I'll be back

    Thanks again

I think your in the wrong place. But since your here

Transfering photos from a camera to a computer is easy. The camera should come with all the software you need. Just read the directions and follow them exactly.

To make a slide show on DVD is also not difficult. But you do need to become familure with your computer. I use Windows Movie Maker for slide show projects.
Basically I import Pictures into Movie maker, then move the pictures into the storyboard in the order you need them, and then save movie.
You can add some really neat transitions inbetween the pics.

When you get to this point myself or someone here can tell you how to burn the DVD

One thing, Its easier to help you if you start your own thread.
    Hope this helps
