After reading the latest "Windows-Help.Net" newsletter, I downloaded DirectX9.0c and found that, according to the license agreement, people who have followed the advice to replace MSJVM w/SunJava are prohibited from installing this update ( "SOLELY WITH RESPECT TO THE MICROSOFT VIRTUAL MACHINE FOR JAVA, YOU ARE ONLY LICENSED TO INSTALL THIS OS COMPONENT ON A MACHINE THAT ALREADY CONTAINS A VERSION OF THE MICROSOFT VIRTUAL MACHINE FOR JAVA. ")! I could find no explanation for this on the MS site (I'm not interested in signing up for a ".NET Passport "). Anyone know what the story is on this??

Maybe something to do with the agreement between MS and Sun which allows MS to support MS VM until 2007 or thereabouts? MS trying to further their monopoly?

As you probably know MS Java and Sun Java happily co-exist and indeed MS Java is required for sites like Yahoo, AFAIK. I have both loaded.

Interesting to see what happens in SP 2 in which it almost certainly will be included, especially as few read the licence agreement anyway - you either agree or don't instal the software - period :)

I believe the EULA reference was "solely with respect to" Java VM by Microsoft. Direct X will install regardless of whether any Java is installed on the computer. I know, since my XP doesn't have Microsoft's Java and Direct X 9c installs fine. The EULA is probably used for several Microsoft products, including one's including Java. Hence, the reference that Java will only install if a previous or same version is already there.
