All my desktop shortcuts to internet sites have customized gifs.

Whenever I open them, the taskbar only shows the generic icon ( for either IE or FF depending on which browser I use).

How do I get the taskbar to show the customized icon just like it does on the desktop and not the generic gif that now shows?

    AFAIK, you can't.

However, if you right-click any blank space on the Taskbar and select Properties, you can then change the "Always combine, hide labels" to "Never combine" (Apply>OK) and you will at least be able to see some of the labels.

Thanks guys but I already use Never Combine.

My custom shortcut non-internet icons work fine in the taskbar, I just want my custom internet ones to do the same.

I always have 5-6 icons in the taskbar so reading labels is pretty much an impossibility and besides Generic icons are the pits. I want my XP back!!!!!!

Sometimes that is the price of progress. Finding a new vehicle in todays world with "no air, no heat, hand roll up windows, stick shift on the column, no power steering, no radio etc. probably will not happen. Got to get into at least the 19th century. :D

I guess in a nut shell, got to go with the changes and the flow of todays world.

The shortcuts on your desktop are to websites. The shortcuts on the taskbar are to your browser.

XP behaves the same way...from a guy that's using XP now;)
