Hi, I'm installing w98se on a friend's IBM Thinkpad 600. When I attempted to copy the win98 folder (which contains the CAB files) from the CD to the (partitionned, formatted) hard drive, I found that the win98 folder on the CD was not visible. This is a legitimate, properly-purchased MS win98se CD, and the win98 folder IS visible on my own desktop PC. And AFTER the successful install of Win98 onto the hard drive, the win98 cd DOES show the win98 folder. So why didn't the Thinkpad see it? On the desktop PC there is a floppy drive always present, but on the thinkpad 600 laptop, I have to swap out the CD player & the floppy - only one drive bay. Since I could use a boot floppy on the desktop PC, but had to boot from the win98se CD on the laptop -- did this have something to do with it? (The boot floppy had DOS CD-rom drivers, so the CD was present on boot). Thanks.

Mysteries abound! Is anything else on the CD visible from the laptop?

Yes, other folders were visible. I did not take an exact count, there may have others invisible. I tried an attrib, but that wouldn't work on a CD anyway, right?
