I was trying to install an online chat program at Norton.com when it stopped and said the Windows Installer wouldn't let them install their program. FINE! So, I downloaded the most recent Installer from M'soft, and the chat app STILL won't load. I haven't activated my ver. of M'soft XP Pro because it's SUCH A PAIN since it's a LEGAL re-installer CD, but could that be the reason I'm having problems.

Just an FYI, if I can't logon to Norton, I'm trying to find out why Partition Magic 8.0 refuses to create a FAT32 partition larger than 196 Gig on a 320 Gig drive. I know that PM8.0 is limited to a 300 Gig drive, but that shouldn't limit it to under 200 Gig. Also, when I first installed the HDD I didn't have any problem creating a 220 Gig FAT32 partition. They're logical data drives. I'd really rather not make them NTFS because that system takes so long to defrag. Is that my only alternative.

    Any thoughts/suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks,
    GPLea:eek:

That's just the first step. After activation you will need to download and install the critical updates.

At what point would you load SP3? I'm thinking after I Activate and update, then load IE7, and Win Media 11?

    Thanks,

I am waiting for SP3 to come out of beta before downloading and installing it.

If you specifically want SP3 - SP3 RC2 is available via Windows Update, but first you must go here and download a script which adds a registry entry to set up your computer as a valid target for SP3 RC2

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=114F3599-12AF-42B2-AAB1-B969A62C68A7

I have been running SP3 RC's 1 then 2 without issue since their respective releases without issue. Don't hold your breath though there are no new goodies apart from NAT which does not apply to most and the reported speed increase reported by some reviewers is not noticeable.

    Fully update your install first.
