Why does my Local Network show two names for the same folder?

I was trying to change the folder sharing options on my small network. I must have done something wrong, but I'm not sure what I did, or how to fix it. Now, when I click on "My Network Places ", the "Local Network" display show three folders when I really only want one folder to be displayed. The three folders are:

    "All Users"
    "Document"
    "SharedDocs"

"All Users" should not be displayed at all, but I am afraid to just delete it on this display because I don't want to delete the contents of this folder.

"Document" and "SharedDocs" are in fact the same folder. I would like delete the "Document" display line but once again I am afraid that I might delete the contents of the folder.

"SharedDocs" is the Shared Documents folder and should remain as is.

Can anyone tell me how I can remove "All Users" and "Document" from this display without damaging the contents of the folder?

(When I right-click on the folder on THIS display, I am NOT shown the Sharing option tab.)

    Thanks for any response.

Operating system(s)? If XP, specify home or pro version.

    Thanks Newt for your response:

The system that I'm talking about is using Windows XP/Professional. The other system in the network uses Windows XP/Home. The folders that I am talking about are on the PRO system, NOT the other system in the other network.

The other (XP/Home) system doesn't seem to have this problem, but I haven't yet investigated it as much as I have on the Pro system.

Hmmm. Not see this one before that I can remember.

Assuming you are checking from the XP-pro PC then do the following. Otherwise, do check from the PC rather than from a network PC.

If XP-pro is using 'simple file sharing' (the default) turn it off. Windows Explorer => Tools => folder options => View and it is the bottom item. Just uncheck it then reboot.

When you start back up, make sure your logon is an admin on that PC and then check properties for the folders - the sharing tab should show up. Make sure the ones you do not want to share are set that way. Turn simple file sharing back on.

Note: if you have it off now, then reverse the toggle order and turn it on, reboot, turn it off, reboot.

Thanks Newt, for your suggestion. I tried it and it didn't seem to change anything. Here's the current status:

On my PC running Windows XP Pro, when I click My Network Places, then the display continues to show two folders entitled "All Users" and "Documents ", both of which are folders on the machine I am using. When I go to My Computer, then C:\Documents and Settings\All Users, then right click on All Users, it is in fact NOT shared, although I think that I had marked it shared in the past. But it's not shared now, yet it continues to appear under the My Network Places display. The same thing is true for the Documents folder. It is as if once a folder is shared, then it is never removed from the My Network Places display, even if you remove the sharing later. I think I need some way to reset the My Network Places display to empty and then start over again. But nothing I have tried seems to ever remove anything from the My Network Places display. It is very confusing.

So I would appreciate any further comments or suggestions. Thanks again.

I think the next thing I'd try is turning off the first two items in the picture, rebooting, and turning them back on to see of simply toggling the feature resets it.

If not, then try turning them off yet again then a reset of TCP/IP to the defaults as shown Here and set things up again from a (hopefully) clean networking load.
