I recently bought a laptop with Windows XP Pro and would like to load a 7.X version of Netscape. I notice that many are having problems with v7.1 and am wondering if I should load v7.02. Any suggestions. The laptop has 512MB Ram and a 2.66Ghz CPU plus a 40GB hard drive.

Go for Netscape 7.1, there aren't many people having problem under Windows XP.

    Hi ackerberg,

Congratulations on the laptop purchase! That's something I keep thinking about, and then pushing aside...

Go for 7.1, and if you are affected by the resource leak, then use the workaround posted HERE. You may not experience any problems, but if so, use the 1024 setting.

You will note on the Resource Leak page, that Mozilla 1.5b has NO GDI problems on Windows. I know that you are somewhat conservative, so won't push on this subject. If Netscape doesn't do a Corporate update for the Resource Leak, (and I have no info about this) you might want to consider Mozilla 1.5 final, when released. I am finding the Beta very stable indeed.

    Cheers!
